About the Author and Artist

Petra Hoffmann was born in Germany, and moved to beautiful British Columbia in 1967. She has endeavoured in many different career paths throughout her life, always searching for her passion, her own special niche. Petra has worked for government offices doing taxes, she has worked as a Legal secretary, she worked in the entertainment fields (pubs and restaurants), and she even tried her hand (twice) at Real Estate. Nothing Petra tried was fulfilling somehow.A couple of years ago, Petra was diagnosed with a life threatening disease, which inevitably changed her life forever. It was then that life slowed her down enough to regain her passion for art. Back in 1992, Petra had taken up Glass/Mirror etching as a hobby, and loved it. Then life and circumstances again steered her away. When she was laid up, and undergoing treatment, she was not able to work, and that is when she remembered etching.
What she discovered, however, was that the same stencil design available in 1992, were the same stencils available for purchase now. Without fully realizing the impact it would have, Petra devised her own unique method, by drawing and cutting out the work directly onto the glass or mirrors. To her own amazement, Petra found herself, creating amazing works of Art! Petra herself, recalls that throughout her whole life, she had always stated that “I have not one artistic bone in my body, although I wish I did.” It turned out she had always been very mistaken.We hope that you enjoy Petra's pieces as much as she enjoys creating them. Her artwork not only got her through her illness, but she has discovered that it is consistently therapeutic for her “to work.” Petra has finally found her true calling!

A FEW WORDS about US

We have created a new, unique, unprecedented Canadian art form, whereby the images are drawn directly onto the glass or mirror. The artist then cuts the images or photo images out by hand, and when the areas to be “etched” are exposed, the final process takes place, using an acid based “etching” cream.Custom designs are welcome, and may be ordered on any size glass or mirror, with or without frames. Most of the pictures in the gallery have been drawn on 12” by 12” mirrors.Prices are subject to size and detail. Many of the pictures in the gallery have already been sold, but we can recreate them, if you see one you would like.

This new unique craft is a precious work of art that lasts a lifetime. These creative pieces make a special gift that is one of a kind. Accordingy to our research, Petra has crafted something fresh and new, in which there is as yet no competition.

These gifts are perfect for yourself, weddings, the birth of a newborn, engagements, anniversaries, funerals, family crests, family portraits, pet portraits, housewarming gifts. Even the poems and lettering are all hand drawn.

We are able to etch coffee and dining tables, doors and windows, all glassware. If you can dream it, we can etch it!
